Three Tanzanian athletes are set to proudly fly the national flag at the international Daegu Marathon, which takes place tomorrow in South Korea.
Tanzania will be represented by long-distance star Gabriel Geay, who made history in the previous edition after claiming victory in a time of 2:05:20, alongside fellow runners Benard Geay and Emmanuel Dindai.
Speaking on their readiness, Geay said the athletes have undergone intensive training and are fully prepared to compete at the highest level, with a clear focus on showcasing Tanzania’s strength in long-distance running on the global stage.
He noted that the runners are aware of the significance of the race, given its strong field that brings together elite athletes from different parts of the world.
“We thank God that our preparations have gone well. We are in good condition, and everyone is highly motivated to perform well and achieve our objectives,” said Geay.
Geay added that he is personally aiming to deliver an even stronger performance as he seeks to defend the title he won last year, expressing confidence that his preparation will enable him to meet that goal.
The marathon is expected to attract top runners from across the globe, with Geay already being tipped as one of the leading contenders following his outstanding performance in last year’s race.
