Tanzania invests TZS 8 billion in Mbeya City development

By The Respondents Reporter

Tanzania continues to strengthen its economic growth through strategic local investments, highlighted by a major TZS 8 billion project in Mbeya.

On 16 February 2026, the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) conducted a domestic investment promotion visit in Mbeya City, during which it toured the City Park Garden project owned by BABITO Trading Company Limited.

Located in the heart of Mbeya, City Park Garden is a modern leisure and recreation complex developed at a cost of TZS 8 billion. The project has created 100 direct jobs and occupies 3.67 hectares within the City Garden area, significantly boosting social and economic activity in the region.

Speaking on behalf of the company’s Director, Mr. Godlisten Msuya stated that the project features three restaurants, three conference and event halls, two swimming pools, 93 commercial business units, parking facilities, children’s play areas, and modern car-wash services.

He highlighted that the project’s success reflects how local investment, when supported by the right incentives, can enhance urban development and community wellbeing.

Mr. Msuya further noted that strong collaboration with TISEZA played a key role in the project’s achievements, including access to a 75 percent reduction in customs duty on imported machinery and production equipment.

TISEZA Investment Promotion Manager, Mr. Daudi Riganda, encouraged more local investors to leverage the incentives offered by the Authority.

He urged investment in productive sectors to increase domestic investment in Mbeya City and nationwide, fostering sustainable economic growth and national development.

The City Park Garden project stands as a model for how strategic investments can generate employment, improve infrastructure, and strengthen Tanzania’s long-term economic future.
