The project, valued at TZS 109.4 billion, will deliver electricity to 660 hamlets over the next three years.

The contractors, M/s Namis Corporate Ltd and M/s Sinotec Company Ltd, were introduced today to the Regional Commissioner of Tabora, Paul Chacha, who will oversee the progress of the projects to ensure timely and effective execution.

Speaking after the introduction, Chacha commended the Government through REA for providing funds to expand electricity access to rural communities.

He emphasized the importance of completing the projects within the scheduled timeframe and assured continuous supervision to ensure the contractors carry out their work without challenges.

“Through REA, the Government has done a remarkable job. We urge that these projects be completed on time, and we will continue to monitor them closely to ensure the contractors execute their responsibilities efficiently throughout the project period,” said Chacha.

Mr. Mussa Muze, representative of the REA Director General, said the Government has successfully connected all 724 villages in Tabora and electrified 1,525 out of 3,749 hamlets, representing 40 percent of all hamlets in the region.

He added that the second phase B (HEP 2B) of the rural electrification project was designed to achieve the Government’s goal of providing electricity to all hamlets by 2030.

Meanwhile, the Project Supervisor from Sinotec Co. Ltd, Mr. Zhang Jianguang, thanked the Government through REA for the opportunity to implement the large-scale project.

He pledged to ensure timely completion, collaborate with local communities, and prioritize employment for local residents to maximize the project’s benefits for both the people and the country.
