The Councillors of the Simanjiro District Council, located in Manyara Region, have officially approved a total budget of TZS 45,136,269,016.60 for the 2026/2027 financial year.
The budget was endorsed during a full council meeting after the presentation of the draft estimates by the Council’s Planning Officer, Happy Masatu.
He explained that the proposed budget is designed to improve the welfare of citizens through the implementation of key development projects across priority sectors, including education, health, community development, agriculture, and livestock.
Masatu stated that the 2026/2027 budget plan was prepared in strict compliance with national laws, government policies, council strategic plans, and official budget preparation guidelines.
“The budget aligns with the Government’s Budget Preparation Guidelines for the 2026/2027 financial year, the policy direction outlined by President Samia Suluhu Hassan during the opening of the 13th Parliament, the election manifesto of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), as well as the development priorities of Simanjiro District Council,” Masatu said.
He further noted that the council has recorded growth in internally generated revenue, particularly from sand levies, agricultural produce, livestock and crop auctions, markets, bus terminal services, service levies, tractor fees, and the sale of surveyed plots. This increase is expected to strengthen service delivery at the grassroots level.
Addressing the council meeting, the Chairman of Simanjiro District Council, Kaleiya Melita Mollel, emphasized the importance of cooperation between councillors and council staff to ensure effective and timely implementation of development projects.
“Citizens in our wards have high expectations. They are looking forward to improved access to essential services such as healthcare, education, clean water, and reliable road infrastructure through this budget,” Mollel said.
The Acting Executive Director of Simanjiro District Council, Dominika Ngaleka, commended councillors for approving the budget and assured residents that the council administration is committed to its proper execution.
“Our focus now is on implementation. Council staff will work closely with councillors to ensure that the approved budget delivers tangible benefits to the people of Simanjiro,” Ngaleka said.
Meanwhile, the Acting District Administrative Secretary, Tumaini Sebastian, directed that the shortage of desks, chairs, and tables in primary and secondary schools be prioritized during budget implementation to create a better learning environment for students.
The Simanjiro District Secretary of CCM, Wambura Igembya, congratulated councillors for approving the draft budget, noting that it reflects the development aspirations of local communities.
Speaking on behalf of the Member of Parliament for Simanjiro Constituency, Dr. Frank Oleleshwa, the MP’s Secretary delivered greetings from the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, James Ole Millya.
He stressed that the 2026/2027 budget should also prioritize the resolution of land disputes to promote peace and sustainable development in the district.
Contributing to the discussion, Councillor for Loiborsiret Ward, Ezekiel Lesenga Mardadi, expressed optimism that the new budget will address long-standing challenges, including the rehabilitation of roads and construction of classrooms.
Similarly, the Councillor for Komolo Ward, Saning’o Somi, described the approved budget as people-centred and development-oriented, saying it will significantly improve the socio-economic wellbeing of residents in Simanjiro District.
