The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Albert John Chalamila, has demonstrated strong commitment to protecting citizens’ rights after facilitating the recovery of TZS5 million for Glory Munisi, funds she lost in a land scam during an attempted purchase of a plot located in Mbopo, Mji Mpya.
The incident has sparked renewed hope among members of the public who continue to face land fraud challenges, with the Regional Commissioner’s intervention being widely viewed as a strong stance by the government against fraudulent practices that negatively affect citizens.
Speaking with gratitude, Glory, a resident of Kinyerezi, thanked the Regional Commissioner for being touched by her situation and taking immediate action.
She noted that the intervention restored her hope after losing her savings, adding that the government’s response reflects its commitment to listening to and addressing citizens’ concerns.
In the same context, Chalamila issued firm directives to the Chairperson of the respective street government and all individuals implicated in the fraudulent transaction to ensure the full refund of the money within the next 24 hours.
He warned that the government will not tolerate land related fraud, which has remained a major source of disputes and hardship among citizens.
He also urged members of the public to follow proper legal procedures when purchasing property, particularly land, by involving relevant authorities to avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes that may derail their development plans.
The move was warmly received by residents present at the scene, who described it as a clear demonstration of leadership commitment in safeguarding justice and protecting citizens from exploitation.
