Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila on February 25, 2026, held talks with the Governor of Maniema Province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Mussa Kabwankubi Moise, aimed at strengthening cross-border cooperation.
The meeting took place at Ilala Boma in Dar es Salaam, where Governor Kabwankubi visited with his delegation. Discussions centered on enhancing collaboration in key areas, particularly economic development and security, between Dar es Salaam Region and Maniema Province.
RC Chalamila said Tanzania and the DRC are long-standing neighbours and partners, noting that Dar es Salaam hosts a large Congolese community engaged in various economic activities, including trade.
He added that the relationship is further reflected in trade flows through the Port of Dar es Salaam, which handles a substantial volume of cargo destined for the DRC each year.
“The volume of goods passing through the port to Congo is significant annually, and this shows how much Dar es Salaam values its relationship with the Congolese people,” said Chalamila.
Governor Kabwankubi welcomed the engagement and said Maniema Province is ready to deepen cooperation with Dar es Salaam, citing mutual benefits in trade, investment and regional stability.
