Nine innovators have been recognised for presenting outstanding ideas expected to improve tax services and expand the tax base, as the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) steps up efforts to modernise revenue collection and strengthen taxpayer engagement.
The awards were presented on February 25, 2026, by the Minister of Finance, Khamis Mussa Omar, who praised TRA for introducing the initiative, saying it promotes public participation and closer cooperation between citizens and the tax authority.
He said the innovation awards would encourage practical and creative solutions that improve service delivery and support efforts to widen the tax net through voluntary compliance.
The overall winner, Gabriel Mashenene, received a cash prize of TZS50 million. Three other winners were each awarded TZS30 million, while five additional innovators received TZS20 million each.
TRA said the awards are part of broader reforms aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and domestic revenue mobilisation by tapping into ideas generated by citizens.
