Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, has brought closure to a property dispute that had lasted nearly 15 years in Kariakoo, involving the family of the late Abdallah Sultani Mtambo.
The conflict also included his former wife, Ms. Malaya Mtambo, and Mr. Salim Selemani Salim, who legally purchased House No. 12 on Plot No. 15 through a court-managed auction. RC Chalamila officially handed over the property to Salim, recognizing him as the lawful owner.
Speaking on February 17 in Dar es Salaam after reviewing a committee report, RC Chalamila confirmed that the property sale was conducted under strict court supervision. Salim purchased the house in 2011 for TZS 250 million.
The RC explained that while some heirs accepted their share of the proceeds through the court-appointed broker, others, including Ms. Malaya, initially refused.
Currently, TZS 64.5 million remains with the broker. RC Chalamila directed that the funds be handed over to the court for proper distribution according to legal procedures.
The committee, chaired by Ms. Fabiola Mwingira, Legal Officer of the Regional Commissioner’s Office, affirmed that all court procedures were followed despite disagreements among heirs.
Ilala District Commissioner, Edward Mpogolo, welcomed the resolution and pledged to work with his security team to maintain peace in the area.
The conclusion of this long-standing dispute marks a significant step in reinforcing rule of law and property rights in Dar es Salaam.
