President Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has announced major changes in the structure of the Office of the President – Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Energy, introducing dual leadership at the top level of both ministries and transferring senior officials across government.
The reshuffle, confirmed by Chief Secretary Ambassador Dr. Moses Kusiluka, affects regional commissioners, principal secretaries, deputy secretaries, and other senior government leaders.
Among the changes, new regional commissioners have been appointed in Kagera and Mtwara, while the leadership of several ministries, including Finance, Industry and Trade, Energy, Agriculture, Livestock, Water, and Health, has been strengthened with new appointments and reassignments.
The Ministry of Energy, for example, will now have separate leadership focusing on oil and gas as well as electricity and renewable energy.
The changes also extend to administrative secretaries in key regions, ensuring continuity and efficiency in local governance, while senior officials have been assigned new responsibilities in line with their expertise.
In addition, top posts in national institutions, including the National Planning Commission and the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute, have seen new appointments to improve oversight, planning, and service delivery.
These adjustments are part of President Samia’s broader effort to strengthen governance, improve public service management, and enhance investment and energy development in Tanzania.
Officials say the changes aim to ensure that experienced leaders are strategically positioned to drive national priorities and respond to the country’s development needs.
The swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed leaders will be scheduled soon, marking the formal start of their duties.
