The Sixth Phase Government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring Tanzanians access quality, reliable and timely health services as part of efforts to improve citizens’ welfare and support national development.

Deputy Minister for Health, Dr Florence Samizi, said the government remains focused on strengthening the health sector to ensure improved service delivery, wider access to medicines and medical equipment, and better health outcomes for all citizens.

Dr Samizi made the remarks in Dar es Salaam while welcoming the newly appointed Deputy Permanent Secretary in charge of Medicines and Medical Devices at the Ministry of Health, Mr Emmanuel Tayari, who reported to the ministry’s sub-offices.

She said Mr Tayari’s appointment would reinforce the ministry’s leadership capacity and accelerate the implementation of key health sector priorities, particularly in improving the availability and management of medicines and medical devices.

“The government of President Samia Suluhu Hassan is determined to ensure that Tanzanians receive quality health services. This commitment is aimed at safeguarding citizens’ health and sustaining their productivity, in line with the National Development Vision 2050,” said Dr Samizi.

She added that strengthening the health system remains central to the government’s broader agenda of improving social services and enhancing the quality of life for Tanzanians.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health, Dr Seif Shekalaghe, said the appointment of the Deputy Permanent Secretary forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the ministry.

Dr Shekalaghe said the ministry’s leadership is prepared to work collaboratively to ensure that presidential directives are fully implemented and translated into tangible improvements in health service delivery across the country.

For his part, Mr Tayari pledged to serve with dedication and professionalism, stressing his commitment to ensuring the availability of safe, quality and timely medicines and medical devices.

He said his priority would be to strengthen systems that support improved access to essential health commodities, thereby contributing to better health services and improved well-being for Tanzanians.
