The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) has unveiled a new initiative aimed at strengthening stakstrategic shift by the Authority to project a single, confident and memorable voice that captures the essence of Ngorongoro as a destination whose story is renewed each year through nature’s cycles.
As part of the initiative, Ngorongoro has launched a photography competition for tour guides dubbed “The Birth of Wonders Photo Competition,” focusing on the Ndutu area during the ongoing wildebeest calving season.
Speaking at the launch, Senior Assistant Commissioner for Tourism Services and Marketing, Ms Mariam Kobelo, said the competition highlights Ndutu as a critical ecosystem within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the Great Wildebeest Migration gives birth to thousands of calves annually.
She noted that tour guides are central to communicating Ngorongoro’s story to the world, given their daily interaction with visitors and their unique access to the destination’s most defining moments.
“Tour guides are among our most important ambassadors. During this calving season in Ndutu, we are inviting them to capture, through their lenses, the first moments of life, the first steps of newborn calves and the bond between mother and calf,” she said.
Under the competition guidelines, participating tour guides are required to upload their photographs on their personal Instagram accounts and tag, as well as collaborate with, Ngorongoro’s official Instagram handle, @visitngorongoro.
Winners will be selected based on audience engagement and strict adherence to the competition rules. The overall winner will take home TZS3 million, while the second and third winners will receive TZS2 million and TZS1 million, respectively.eholder engagement in the tourism sector, as it rolls out a fresh storytelling approach under the Destination Ngorongoro brand.
Through the competition, the Authority said, tour guides will serve as key narrators of the Destination Ngorongoro brand, offering authentic, first-hand accounts of the wildebeest calving season that continues to position Ndutu and Ngorongoro among the world’s most remarkable natural landscapes.
