NARCO urged to increase livestock production and efficiency

By The Respondents Reporter

The Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Dr. Edwin Mhede, has urged the National Ranching Company (NARCO) to step up efforts to produce high-quality livestock products and improve operational efficiency.

Dr. Mhede made the call on February 5, 2026, at NARCO’s headquarters in Dodoma during a working session focused on implementing directives from President Samia Suluhu Hassan and the Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, Ambassador Dr. Bashiru Ally.

The directives aim to strengthen NARCO’s role in driving reforms within Tanzania’s livestock sector.

“This company must lead by example in producing top-quality livestock products. I urge all of us to dedicate ourselves fully to executing the President’s directives and the guidance of our Minister,” Dr. Mhede said.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Tanzania Meat Board to improve slaughterhouse efficiency, expand market access, and boost domestic and international trade in meat products.

Dr. Mhede also called on NARCO officials to accelerate the implementation of their duties while keeping in mind Tanzania’s Vision 2050 for national development.

With a renewed focus on quality and efficiency, NARCO is expected to play a central role in transforming the livestock sector and supporting the country’s economic growth.
