The Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has held discussions with the Commission of Inquiry tasked with investigating incidents of breaches of peace that occurred during and after the General Election of October 29, 2025.
The meeting took place on February 17, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, at Tanganyika Hall within the headquarters of the Bank of Tanzania.
It forms part of the Commission’s nationwide consultations aimed at collecting views, information, and expert advice from key leaders and stakeholders.
Among the key issues discussed were the assessment of the social, political, and diplomatic impacts of the incidents at both national and international levels, as well as proposed social and legal measures to strengthen peace, national cohesion, and Tanzania’s standing in the international community.
The Commission of Inquiry into Breaches of Peace continues to meet with various groups, including individuals directly affected by the incidents.
These engagements are intended to gather evidence and perspectives that will support the preparation of a comprehensive and credible report to guide future actions in safeguarding peace and unity in the country.
