Health sector ICT experts have convened in Dodoma to discuss strategies for improving the quality and efficiency of health services nationwide.

The meeting, held on February 5, 2026, brought together heads of ICT units from across the health sector to deliberate on the implementation of a unified health service management system, as directed by the Minister of Health, Mohamed Mchengerwa.

Mr. Silvanus Ilomo, Director of ICT at the Ministry of Health, emphasized the government’s commitment to modernizing health systems to ensure seamless connectivity from primary health facilities to national hospitals.

He noted that improved ICT systems would make health services more accessible, reduce treatment costs, and enhance service delivery.

“Interoperable ICT systems are critical for the smooth exchange of patient information between health facilities without technological barriers,” Mr. Ilomo said.

“This integration will eliminate duplicated data and reduce errors caused by repeated entry, ultimately improving patient care by ensuring accurate and easily accessible information.”he added

Mr. Eric Kitali, ICT Director at the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), highlighted the importance of establishing a robust referral system.

He said such a system will track patients’ medical history across facilities, ensuring they receive the right care at the right time.

He further underscored the unity of the health sector and pledged continued collaboration between the Ministry of Health and PMO-RALG to strengthen service delivery and system efficiency.
