GSM Tanzania Limited has won the tender to construct the long-awaited stadium for Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga SC), marking a historic milestone in the club’s quest to own its home ground.

Speaking to journalists, Yanga’s Communications and Public Relations Manager, Ally Kamwe, said the club’s leadership, under the guidance of its President, has prioritized building the stadium at the club’s headquarters to enhance infrastructure and create new revenue streams.

“I am pleased to announce to Tanzanians that GSM Tanzania Limited has won the tender to build the Young Africans Sports Club stadium. This project represents a long-standing dream of the club’s leadership,” Kamwe said.

He added that after consulting experts, the management realized the initial site did not meet Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards, prompting the need for additional land.

“The government granted us the land along with the title deed. Following this, we sought a contractor capable of constructing a CAF-standard stadium, and GSM Tanzania Ltd won the tender,” he explained.

Construction is set to begin once administrative procedures and preparatory work are completed. Fans are urged to continue supporting the club during this historic phase.

Separately, Yanga strongly condemned violent incidents that occurred yesterday, where supporters reportedly confronted the Chairman of rival Simba Sports Club, Murtaza Mangungu, after their match.

“We strongly denounce and oppose the violent acts that took place yesterday. We extend our apologies to the Simba Chairman and other leaders affected,” Kamwe said.

The club reiterated that violence has no place in football and urged Tanzanian fans to uphold peace, respect, and unity during all competitions.
