The Government of Tanzania has unveiled comprehensive strategies to ensure women entrepreneurs play a central role in implementing the National Development Vision 2050, particularly in building a robust, inclusive, and competitive economy.
Deputy Minister for Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, Eng. Maryprisca Mahundi, made the remarks on February 2, 2026, during a parliamentary session in Dodoma.
She was responding to a question from Special Seats MP, Janeth Elias Mahawanga, who asked whether the government has plans to directly involve women entrepreneurs in driving the Vision 2050 agenda.
Mahundi said the government has developed targeted strategies to empower women entrepreneurs, enabling them to contribute actively to national development through economic activities.
“The strategies focus on removing barriers that limit women’s access to finance and markets. By doing so, we aim to boost productivity, enhance competitiveness, and strengthen the quality of goods and services offered by women-led businesses,” she explained.
She further highlighted that the government continues to implement initiatives that provide both women and men with economic opportunities.
These include dedicated platforms for women’s economic empowerment, entrepreneurship training, adoption of modern technology, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
“Through these measures, women-owned businesses will grow, create jobs, and make meaningful contributions to the national economy. This is critical for achieving the objectives of the National Development Vision 2050,” Mahundi emphasized.
The government’s commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs aligns with broader efforts to foster inclusive growth, reduce economic inequalities, and enhance Tanzania’s competitiveness in the regional and global markets.
