Government, through the Ministry of Works and the Tanzania Roads Agency (TANROADS), has set a new record in infrastructure development within the first 100 days of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership.

Roads, bridges, and essential facilities are being delivered across the country, bringing hope and improved services to citizens.

Speaking to journalists and residents in King’ori, Arusha, Minister of Construction Abdallah Ulega highlighted the government’s achievements in the construction sector since Dr. Samia assumed office.

He said TANROADS has completed 40 out of 81 emergency bridge projects nationwide, including King’ori, valued at over TZS 500 billion.

Implemented under the Contingent Emergency Response Component (CERC), these projects have addressed critical local challenges and improved daily life for communities.

“Residents here had no major bridges before. In just 100 days, we ensured these projects were completed, improving access and safety,” Minister Ulega said.

He added that the government promptly disbursed funds to pay contractors, with TZS 280 billion coming from the national treasury and the remaining amount from development partners.

Beyond bridges, King’ori has experienced significant improvements in infrastructure. Major water drainage systems have been constructed in hilly areas, street lighting has been expanded, new asphalt roads have been paved, and bus terminals have been established.

These initiatives have enhanced public services and brought a visible improvement to citizens’ daily lives.

Minister Ulega also noted progress in easing traffic congestion along the Mkuranga Road corridor in Dar es Salaam, from Rangi Tatu (Mbagala) to Kongowe, where President Samia allocated TZS 16 billion in compensation to affected residents and an initial TZS 9 billion for construction works.

Arumeru Mashariki Member of Parliament Joshua Nassari praised the government for delivering projects that directly benefit communities and improve living conditions.

These achievements demonstrate the government’s commitment to fast, citizen-focused development under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, setting a strong foundation for Tanzania’s infrastructure future.
