Coastal Union reassess after heavy loss to Pamba Jiji

By Victoria Godfrey

Coastal Union have vowed to regroup and correct their shortcomings following a 3–0 defeat to Pamba Jiji, a result that extended their losing streak to four matches in a row.

Speaking after the match, Coastal Union Assistant Coach Joseph Lazaro said the technical bench will sit down to conduct a thorough assessment of the team’s performance, with the aim of identifying weaknesses and making necessary adjustments ahead of upcoming fixtures.

Lazaro admitted the run of poor results has put the team under pressure, but insisted that the club remains focused on turning things around.

He said the players and coaches must return to training with greater concentration while openly discussing recurring mistakes in order to avoid further setbacks.

“Despite the loss, we have not lost hope. We are still fighting, and we do not want to blame the technical bench or individual players,” Lazaro said. “What is important is to sit together, discuss the problem and find solutions collectively.”

On the winning side, Pamba Jiji Head Coach Francis Baraza praised his players for respecting their opponents and executing instructions, particularly in the second half.

Baraza explained that difficult wind conditions in the first half worked against his team, limiting their attacking effectiveness.

However, he said the situation changed after the break, allowing his players to make better use of their chances and score three goals to secure all three points.

“That match is now behind us,” Baraza said. “Our focus has shifted to the next game at home against Namungo, which is a strong team. We are determined to get positive results because our goal is to finish the league in a good position.”

The result further boosts Pamba Jiji’s confidence as the league campaign continues, while Coastal Union face growing pressure to rediscover form and halt their slide in the standings.
