Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila on Thursday hosted a special Iftar for residents of the region, bringing together religious leaders, government officials and members of the public in a show of unity during the holy month of Ramadan.
The event, held at the historic Diamond Jubilee Hall, attracted participants from various parts of the city, reflecting Dar es Salaam’s religious and cultural diversity.
The gathering underscored the importance of social cohesion and collaboration between the government and faith-based institutions.
Chief Mufti of Tanzania Abubakar Zubeir bin Ally was the guest of honour and led special prayers for national peace, unity and sustainable development.
The prayers sought divine guidance for the country and reaffirmed the role of faith in promoting harmony and stability.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Chalamila called on residents to strengthen bonds of unity and compassion, stressing that Ramadan offers an opportunity to nurture solidarity and mutual support.
He reaffirmed the Regional Commissioner’s commitment to working closely with religious leaders to preserve peace and order in the commercial capital.
The Chief Mufti commended the Regional Commissioner’s Office for organizing the Iftar, noting that such initiatives enhance trust and cooperation between the government and citizens.
He urged Tanzanians to continue praying for the nation and to uphold moral values throughout the sacred month.
The evening concluded with participants breaking the fast together, accompanied by brief religious reflections.
The atmosphere was marked by a strong sense of togetherness, highlighting Ramadan’s enduring message of unity and goodwill.
