The Government of Tanzania has officially appointed Coach Miguel Gamondi as the head coach of the national football team, the Taifa Stars.
The announcement was made today by the Minister of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, Paul Makonda, during a contract signing ceremony at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Minister Makonda highlighted that Gamondi earned the role through his outstanding leadership during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

“Coach Gamondi has demonstrated exceptional tactical acumen and motivational skills, qualities that make him the right choice to lead our team,” Minister Makonda said.
The government has now entrusted Gamondi with the mission of preparing the Taifa Stars for the 2027 AFCON, which Tanzania will host.
