Young Africans SC (Yanga) will be aiming to maintain their momentum in the NBC Premier League when they face Mashujaa FC tomorrow at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking to journalists ahead of the encounter, Yanga head coach Pedro Goncalves said the team has completed its preparations and is in good shape for the fixture, with all players available for selection.
Goncalves said he is well aware of Mashujaa’s playing philosophy and mentality, noting that Yanga’s experience in high-pressure matches will be crucial in navigating what he expects to be a demanding contest.
“Yanga approaches every match with maximum focus and respect for the opponent. We never underestimate any team, and Mashujaa are no exception,” Goncalves said.
He described Mashujaa as a well-balanced side with the ability to attack and defend effectively, warning that his players must remain disciplined throughout the match.
The Portuguese tactician also thanked Yanga supporters for their continued backing and urged them to turn out in large numbers to support the team.
Midfielder Emmanuel Mwanengo said the players are fully motivated, stressing that securing all three points remains the team’s primary objective as the title race intensifies.
“The championship race has reached a very sensitive stage, so every match is extremely important for us,” Mwanengo said.
“Our goal is to take maximum points from every game. We call upon Wananchi to come out in big numbers. We promise to play good football and fight until the final whistle to achieve our objectives.”
Meanwhile, Mashujaa FC head coach Salum Mayanga said his side has made thorough preparations for the clash and is determined to put in a strong performance.
Mayanga said his players have worked on minimising errors, acknowledging that mistakes could be costly against a team of Yanga’s calibre.
Although Mashujaa will be without three players, Mayanga said he still has a strong and competitive squad capable of rising to the occasion.
“We are aware of Yanga’s quality, but we are well prepared both mentally and tactically. It will be a difficult and technical match,” Mayanga said.
He called on Mashujaa supporters to rally behind the team, saying their backing could play a key role in pushing the players towards a positive result.
Mashujaa player Baraka Mtuwi echoed his coach’s sentiments, saying the team is ready for the challenge and approaches every fixture with a winning mindset.
“We know Yanga are a big team, but we treat every match like a final. All players are motivated and ready to fight on the pitch,” Mtuwi said.
