Young Africans SC (Yanga) will lock horns with African giants Al Ahly tomorrow in a high-profile CAF Champions League group-stage return leg at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar, in a match expected to draw continental attention.
Yanga Head Coach Pedro Soares Goncalves said his side is fully prepared following intensive training sessions, expressing confidence while acknowledging the strength of their opponents.
“We have completed our preparations on the pitch and are finalising the remaining details. The team is ready to compete and perform well tomorrow. We respect Al Ahly because they are a strong and experienced side,” Goncalves said.
He described the fixture as a tactical battle that will require discipline, focus, and composure throughout the 90 minutes.
“We understand we are facing a big team. The game will have different phases — there will be moments when we control possession and moments when they do. Both teams will attack, so we must remain alert at all times if we want to achieve our objective,” he added.
Yanga midfielder Dickson Job said the players are determined to rise to the occasion, noting the significance of the match on both a continental and global stage.
“We have prepared well as a team, and now our responsibility is to fight for every minute of the match. We want to secure a positive result,” Job said.
He also urged Yanga supporters to turn out in large numbers to boost the team’s morale.
“We call upon our fans to come and support us in big numbers. Their presence and energy are important, and together we can push for victory,” he said.
The encounter is expected to test Yanga’s resilience and ambition as they seek a strong statement against one of Africa’s most decorated clubs.
