The Minister for Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, Dr. Dorothy Gwajima, has urged senior officials in her ministry to strengthen accountability and adopt a more results-driven approach in implementing government priorities to enhance citizens’ welfare.
Speaking at a strategic leadership workshop in Dodoma, Dr. Gwajima emphasized that effective execution of policies, plans and directives is critical to delivering meaningful development outcomes and improving public service delivery.
She said the administration under President Samia Suluhu Hassan continues to place strong emphasis on accountability, efficiency and high-quality services, calling on ministry leaders to uphold these principles in their daily operations.
“The responsibility of the Ministry’s leadership is to ensure that government strategies are implemented effectively and translated into visible, measurable impact for the people,” Dr. Gwajima said.
She noted that the ministry’s performance depends largely on prudent management of public resources, particularly human capital and financial resources, urging leaders to prioritize integrity, discipline and efficiency while minimizing bureaucratic delays.
“Our success is determined by how well we manage the resources entrusted to us. We must strengthen work ethics, uphold integrity and eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy that hampers service delivery,” she said.
Dr. Gwajima also stressed the importance of unity and collaboration within the ministry’s leadership, highlighting open communication, teamwork and collective problem-solving as key drivers of institutional productivity and improved performance.
She expressed optimism that the workshop would generate constructive dialogue, identify operational challenges and produce practical resolutions that can be effectively implemented and monitored.
“I expect this forum to produce actionable recommendations that will enhance efficiency and strengthen the implementation of our mandate across the Ministry and its affiliated institutions,” she added.
Permanent Secretary Dr. John Jingu said the Ministry’s management would prioritize the implementation of resolutions reached during the workshop to improve service delivery and institutional effectiveness.
The meeting brought together senior officials, including deputy permanent secretaries, heads of departments and units, heads of affiliated institutions, principals and deputy principals of community development colleges, as well as assistant directors from the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups.
