TRC to resume operations at Dar es Salaam Station for key train services

By The Respondents Reporter

The Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) has announced that, effective January 15, 2026, selected train services will resume departures from the Dar es Salaam Station, moving away from the temporary Kamata station.

The adjustment applies to commuter trains and Meter Gauge Railway (MGR) services heading to Tanga, Kilimanjaro, and Arusha

TRC attributed the shift to the successful completion of Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) construction work and ongoing upgrades at the MGR Dar es Salaam station, which are expected to enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency.

Passengers are advised to note the change and plan their travel accordingly. TRC also called on the public to share the announcement to ensure widespread awareness.

With this move, Dar es Salaam Station will once again serve as the central hub for regional and commuter train services, strengthening connectivity and streamlining operations for travelers across the affected routes.
