TISEZA backs expansion of Kamanga Medics Hospital in Mwanza

By The Respondents Reporter

The Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) has thrown its support behind the expansion of Kamanga Medics Hospital in Nyegezi, Mwanza, a move set to strengthen healthcare services in the region.

The hospital, owned and managed by Tanzanian investors under Dr. Rodrick Kabangila, founder and CEO, is undergoing significant development to meet growing demand.

The expansion project is officially registered with TISEZA and is eligible for a range of government incentives, including both fiscal and non-fiscal benefits.

These include exemptions from customs duties on imported medical equipment, machinery, and essential hospital supplies such as beds and linens.

With an estimated capital investment of TZS 27–30 billion, the project is expected to create 350 to 380 permanent jobs, contributing significantly to local employment.

Kamanga Medics Hospital currently occupies 1,800 square meters and can accommodate up to 1,000 patients.

It has 200 beds, serves around 600 outpatients daily, and maintains an average of 80 inpatients. Recognized as a private hospital, it also functions as a zonal referral facility, offering specialized medical services to residents of Mwanza and neighboring regions.

Established in 2013, the hospital has steadily expanded to improve access to quality healthcare. TISEZA’s visit forms part of a national drive to promote domestic investment, particularly in strategic projects that boost Tanzania’s social and economic development, especially across the Lake Zone regions.
