TAWA promotes 84 officers and 48 rangers to strengthen wildlife conservation

The Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) on January 7, 2026, promoted 84 officers and 48 rangers in a move aimed at boosting professionalism, discipline, and efficiency in wildlife conservation. 

The ceremony took place at TAWA Headquarters in Morogoro and was presided over by Acting Commissioner for Wildlife Conservation, Mlage Yussuf Kabange.

Addressing the officers and rangers, Commissioner Kabange congratulated them on reaching a significant milestone in their careers and urged them to carry out their duties with professionalism, integrity, and strict adherence to ethical and military standards.


He also expressed gratitude to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for prioritizing the welfare and career development of wildlife officers, noting that TAWA had been authorized to recruit 550 officers and rangers during the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 financial years. 

“This initiative not only raises morale among our staff but also strengthens wildlife protection, improves conservation efforts, and boosts tourism,” Commissioner Kabange said.

He further highlighted that, in the current promotion cycle, 84 officers and 48 rangers were elevated across various ranks, reflecting the government’s commitment to supporting TAWA’s workforce.

Deputy Commissioner for Corporate Services, Thabit Maarufu, while congratulating the promoted staff, urged them to honor their new positions by improving workplace environments, enhancing teamwork, upholding integrity, and maintaining exemplary conduct. 


“These values are essential for achieving the Authority’s goals and contributing to national development,” he said.

SSP Luitiko Norman Kibanda, representing the Morogoro Regional Police Commander, emphasized that professionalism, discipline, and strict compliance with the law are crucial in the execution of official duties.

The event was attended by senior TAWA officials, regional directors, representatives from TAFORI, and rangers, underlining the collaborative effort required to safeguard Tanzania’s wildlife.
