The Mlima wa Moto Church of Tanzania has announced plans to hold a week-long prayer conference aimed at praying for the nation and promoting peace and unity.

The event, titled “Start the Year with the Lord”, will take place from January 25 to February 1, 2026 at the church’s Mikocheni B branch in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking to journalists, Pastor Samwel Hillary, a member of the event’s organizing committee, said the conference is designed to help Tanzanians begin the year with spiritual guidance and closeness to God. “Our goal is to ensure the nation starts the year near God,” he said.

The conference will be led by local religious leaders including Bishop Dastani Maboya, Rose Mgeta, Pastor Madoshi, and a guest pastor from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Participants will receive teachings from the Bible and prayers aimed at healing and national restoration.

Godfrey Kazinja, secretary of the organizing committee, said the event is intended to unite communities and encourage people to live according to God’s principles. He added that transportation will be arranged for participants from Mwenge area to the church.

Organizers also said the program will feature a number of gospel artists, including John Lissu, Pastor Epa, and Ashery, among others. Sarah Daniel, another committee member, urged the public to follow updates through media channels.

The event is part of the church’s efforts to foster national unity, peace, and moral values, particularly at the start of the year. Organizers said the conference seeks to strengthen cohesion among Tanzanians and promote societal values based on love, respect, and accountability.
