Tanzania has joined high-level discussions on global health cooperation following the arrival of the Deputy Minister for Health, Dr Florence Samizi, in Stockholm, Sweden, for the African–Nordic Health Summit.

Dr Samizi is attending the summit on behalf of the Minister for Health, Mr Mohamed Omary Mchengerwa (MP). Upon her arrival, she was received by Tanzania’s Ambassador to Sweden, Mr Mobhare Matinyi, at the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Stockholm.

The summit is scheduled to begin on January 22, 2026, and is being organised through a partnership involving the Network of African Women Ambassadors in the Nordic countries, The Maternity Foundation, Dalberg Media and the Danish Alliance for Global Health, alongside other international stakeholders.

Key partners include the Global Financing Facility, World Diabetes Foundation, Ferring Pharmaceuticals and Laerdal Global Health.

The high-level meeting aims to advance dialogue and collaboration on maternal, newborn and child health, as well as the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases.

It is expected to bring together government leaders from Africa and the Nordic countries, prominent public figures, business leaders and representatives of civil society.

Tanzania’s participation reflects the government’s continued commitment to strengthening international cooperation in the health sector and to adopting innovative approaches that improve health outcomes, particularly for women and children.
