The Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS) of Tanga, Mr. Rashid Mchatta, has assured stakeholders that the upcoming Financial Services Week in Tanga City will be a major success, thanks to thorough planning and strong collaboration between the government and financial institutions.

Mr. Mchatta made the remarks during a meeting at his office with experts from the Ministry of Finance, who visited the region in partnership with the Regional Commissioner’s office to finalize preparations for the week-long event, set for January 19–26, 2026, at Usagara Grounds.

“The regional government is fully prepared to ensure the celebrations reach as many citizens as possible,” said Mr. Mchatta.

“Through local councils and other government institutions, we will mobilize all groups, including public servants, entrepreneurs, associations, motorcycle taxi operators, and city residents, to participate fully.”he added

Ministry of Finance experts emphasized that the main goal of the event is to equip citizens with practical financial knowledge, enabling them to make better use of financial services and achieve economic empowerment.

They highlighted that, despite access to loans, grants, and other support, many citizens struggle due to low financial literacy, which has limited the success of numerous economic projects.

Mr. Mchatta urged the Ministry of Finance to continue working closely with the regional office and local councils, promising full support and quick resolution of any challenges before and during the celebrations.

Chief Economist from the Ministry’s Financial Sector Development Department, Mr. Thobias Kanyoki, expressed gratitude to Mr. Mchatta and Tanga’s leadership for their strong cooperation.

He stressed that government involvement is vital to ensure that citizens benefit fully, as all financial institutions will provide services and education at the event.

“Residents of Tanga City are encouraged to participate actively in Financial Services Week to gain essential financial knowledge for sustainable economic development. Attend the event Learn, Empower Yourself, Achieve Economic Growth,” Mr. Kanyoki urged.
