Simba Queens and JKT Queens failed to separate after a pulsating 1–1 draw in a Tanzania Women’s Premier League fixture played on January 8 at the Azam Complex in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam, underlining the growing competitiveness of the league.

The eagerly awaited encounter began at a high tempo, with both teams showing early intent to claim control of the match.

The opening stages were marked by swift transitions and physical battles in midfield as each side sought to impose its style of play.

Despite several promising moves, clear-cut chances were limited, largely due to disciplined defending from both teams.

JKT Queens struck first in the 33rd minute when Winfrida Gerald capitalised on space inside the penalty area, finishing clinically past the Simba Queens goalkeeper to hand her side a 1–0 lead.

The goal gave JKT Queens a psychological lift, allowing them to play with greater confidence and composure for the remainder of the first half.

Simba Queens went into the interval trailing by a goal, aware that sharper execution in the final third would be required to get back into the contest.

The second half saw a more assertive Simba Queens, who adjusted tactically and increased the tempo of their attacks.

Their sustained pressure paid off in the 53rd minute when Zawadi Usanase found the back of the net with a composed finish, restoring parity and injecting new life into the match.

With the score level, the contest turned into an open and fiercely contested affair. JKT Queens looked to exploit spaces on the counter, while Simba Queens enjoyed more possession and pushed numbers forward in search of a decisive goal.

However, resilient defending and assured goalkeeping at both ends ensured that neither side could find a breakthrough.

The final whistle confirmed a 1–1 draw, a result that reflected the balance of play and highlighted the competitive nature of the Tanzania Women’s Premier League, where top sides continue to push each other to the limit.
