Residents of Shinyanga are set to enjoy electricity in their neighborhoods under President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s 100-day initiative, as authorities pledge to resolve citizens’ challenges promptly.

Deputy Minister of Energy, Salome Makamba, said today, January 8, 2026, that leaders have a duty to oversee development projects while listening to and addressing the needs of the people.

“Citizens trust their government, and it is our responsibility to ensure their problems are solved without delay,” Salome said during a working visit to inspect energy projects across Shinyanga.

The Ministry of Energy has prioritized connecting neighborhoods and villages to electricity, a move expected to improve business opportunities, education, and social services. Reliable power, the Deputy Minister said, is key to driving both economic growth and social development.

During her visit,  Salome also toured the regional office of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), meeting the Regional Secretary, a member of the National Executive Committee (MNEC), and the Regional Secretariat. She praised the strong collaboration between the party and government in serving citizens.

Community representative Odilia Abraham Batimayo commended the Rural Energy Agency (REA) and TANESCO for addressing citizens’ concerns quickly, noting that their responsiveness has strengthened public confidence in government services.

Hon. Salome’s tour included inspections of key energy projects, including the Kishapu solar power plant and ongoing electricity connections in several villages.

Her visit underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring that access to electricity reaches communities across Shinyanga, translating policy into real benefits for citizens.
