Shemdoe gives six months to complete Morogoro RC office

The Minister for the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), Prof. Riziki Shemdoe, has given Morogoro regional leadership six months to complete the construction of the Regional Commissioner’s office.

The facility is expected to improve service delivery to residents and provide a functional workspace for staff.

Prof. Shemdoe issued the directive during an official tour of the region, where he inspected ongoing development projects, including the RC office. He warned that contractors who cannot complete work on time should be replaced.

He directed the regional authorities to prepare a realistic work plan within one week, in consultation with the client, consultant, and contractor, to ensure the project is finalized on schedule.

“If the current contractor cannot complete the project, find someone who can. Sit together, agree on a plan, and bring it to my office within one week,” he said.

Regional Administrative Secretary Dr. Mussa Ali Mussa confirmed he had received the instructions and would implement them, though he expressed doubts about the current contractor’s ability to finish the project.

Katabaro, Project Director from MCD Company, assured the Minister that the company is ready to complete the office by July this year.

During the visit, Prof. Shemdoe also inspected other municipal projects, including the Kihonda–Veta road, a daladala bus stand near SGR, and the municipal hospital in Mkundi, instructing authorities to allocate funds for a protective fence around the hospital.

In Morogoro District, he visited Ng’aro Secondary School and directed funding for the completion of its laboratory.

The Minister further ordered that all government institutions and buildings in the region be surveyed, issued with title deeds, and properly fenced to prevent encroachment.

The Morogoro RC office project, valued at TZS 6.5 billion, began in 2022 and was initially expected to be completed in 2024. It is now 69 percent complete.
