Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, will personally lead a tree planting exercise on January 27, 2026, at Bungi Kilimo and Kizimkazi in Zanzibar. The initiative is part of activities to mark the President’s birthday.
The exercise, themed “Birth and Preserve the Environment, Join in Planting Trees”, underscores President Samia’s commitment to advancing national efforts in environmental conservation.
The campaign focuses on tree planting, protecting natural forests, conserving water sources, and addressing the impacts of climate change.
The event highlights the importance of collective responsibility, encouraging every Tanzanian, according to their capacity and location, to contribute to the protection and expansion of the country’s forests for present and future generations.
President Samia calls on citizens to voluntarily embrace environmental stewardship, emphasizing that safeguarding nature is essential for life, sustainable development, and national security.
The President’s Office of Communication has urged individuals, schools, workplaces, and community organizations to actively support the initiative by planting at least one tree, contributing to a greener, healthier Tanzania.
