Pool Association appeals for stakeholder support ahead of Africa Championship

By Victoria Godfrey

The Tanzania Pool Association (TAPA) has appealed to sports stakeholders and well-wishers to support the national pool team as it prepares to participate in the All Africa Pool Championship scheduled for February this year in South Africa.

TAPA Chairman Wilfred Makamba said the appeal aims to ensure the national team is adequately facilitated to make full and meaningful participation in the continental tournament.

He noted that the association’s ambition goes beyond participation, stressing that the team is targeting strong performances and possible titles that would help promote Tanzania and enhance its visibility on the international sports stage.

“Our priority at the moment is to ensure the team enters camp early to allow sufficient time for preparation and to attain the required competitive readiness,” Makamba said.

He added that arrangements are underway for the team to enter a joint residential training camp starting January 8 this year.

In the meantime, players are continuing with individual training programmes at their respective clubs under the supervision of their coaches.

Makamba emphasized that timely support from stakeholders will play a critical role in strengthening preparations and improving the team’s chances of success at the All Africa Pool Championship.
