New Schools in Chunya bring education closer to children

Children in Sangambi Ward, Chunya District, will soon have easier access to education after the government allocated over TZS 300 million for the construction of a new early childhood and primary school.

The move is set to reduce the long distances students previously had to walk, ensuring more children can attend school regularly.

Sangambi Ward Executive Officer, Sarah Emmanuel, said the project is progressing well, thanks to strong collaboration between local residents and the government.

“Our ward received TZS 329.5 million for this initiative. Construction is moving smoothly with full support from the community, and we are confident the project will improve education access for many children,” Emmanuel said.

Kelvin Nshinshi, Chairperson of the District Council’s Finance, Administration, and Planning Committee, praised the ward’s leadership for their responsible management of the project, noting that transparency and accountability are key to delivering quality public services.

“The leaders of Sangambi, particularly the Construction Committees, have shown exemplary commitment. Their work ensures that development projects meet community needs effectively,” Nshinshi said.

The initiative is not only enhancing education but also strengthening community services. Nshinshi called on the police to continue educating residents on safety, including proper use of fire-related equipment used in daily income-generating activities.

Sangambi Ward Councillor, Junjulu Ndete Muhewa, emphasized that community involvement in project planning and implementation ensures quality outcomes that truly benefit residents.

The Finance, Administration, and Planning Committee’s two-day field visit—the first since its formation—highlighted ongoing projects and offered guidance, signaling a new era of active council oversight in Chunya District.

With the new schools, children in Sangambi can look forward to a future where education is not just accessible but within reach of their homes.
