Acting Commissioner of the Financial Sector Development Department at the Ministry of Finance, Ms. Dionisia Mjema, together with her coordination team, held discussions with the District Commissioner of Tanga, Dadi Kolimba, on preparations for the fifth National Financial Services Week.
The week-long event, which began on January 19, 2025, will be officially launched today at Usagara grounds in Tanga City.
The meeting took place at the Regional Commissioner’s Office hall, where both parties reviewed in detail the implementation of the celebrations organized by the government under the theme “Financial Literacy: The Foundation for Economic Development.”
The program brings together various stakeholders from the financial sector, including participants from Tanga and neighboring regions.
Speaking on behalf of the Regional Commissioner, Mr. Kolimba emphasized that the region continues to offer close support to ensure the success of the event and encouraged residents to actively participate to gain valuable opportunities and knowledge on economic empowerment.
He noted that National Financial Services Week provides an important platform for citizens to access financial education, deepen understanding of formal financial services, and stimulate economic growth, particularly among small and medium-sized entrepreneurs.
Ms. Dionisia Mjema highlighted that the main objective of the celebration is to empower citizens to make informed financial decisions through financial literacy.
She added that the event also serves to connect microfinance institutions, banks, social security funds, and entrepreneurs to foster collaboration and enhance financial inclusion across the country.
The National Financial Services Week continues in Tanga City, targeting diverse community groups as a way to strengthen individual and national economic well-being.
