Muslim University students urge Tanzanians to preserve peace

Students at the Muslim University of Morogoro (MUM) have called on Tanzanians, particularly the youth, to safeguard peace in the country, noting that it plays a key role in national development and ensures that students can pursue their studies without disruptions.

Hussein Mohamedi Hassani, the university’s Assistant Tutorial Instructor, made the remarks during an educational and domestic tourism visit to Mikumi National Park, accompanied by student government leaders and fellow students.

Hassani stressed that the education students receive is closely linked to maintaining peace, which is essential for social and economic progress.

“Peace is the foundation of everything. It underpins economic, social, political, and spiritual development. We worship, live, and study because of peace. Tanzanians and people worldwide should continue to uphold this value to achieve their full potential,” Hassani said.

He added that students at MUM are proud to continue their studies in a peaceful environment, which has also enabled them to participate in the educational tourism visit to Mikumi National Park.

Abubakari Maneno Yahaya, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the university’s Student Government, said the trip was organized to help first-year students get acquainted with Morogoro.

“The visit is not only about exploring Morogoro but also about gaining knowledge. In the future, we plan to involve students studying Arabic to learn about wildlife using the Arabic language,” Yahaya said.

He added that the group of 31 participants, mostly first-year students, benefited from both educational and tourism experiences.

“Domestic tourism supports the nation’s economy while giving students studying Geography and History a deeper understanding of wildlife and their habitats,” Yahaya said.

Several students, including Matroni Sharifa Maulidi, expressed excitement at the opportunity to observe wildlife firsthand and learn about the park’s ecosystem.
