The Mining Commission has strengthened its capacity to promote efficient, responsible and sustainable mining following a working visit to Zinjin Mining in Ghana, where officials benchmarked best practices in modern mine operations.
The delegation undertook the study tour to gain practical insights into advanced mining techniques, effective regulatory frameworks and innovative approaches that enhance productivity while ensuring environmental protection and worker safety.
During the visit, Commission officials toured key operational areas at the mining site, held technical discussions with industry experts and observed real-time mining activities.
The engagement provided firsthand exposure to modern technologies, streamlined production systems, occupational health and safety standards, environmental management strategies and robust mine governance models.
Officials noted that Zinjin Mining’s integrated approach to operational efficiency and compliance offers valuable lessons that can be adapted to improve Tanzania’s mining sector, particularly in strengthening regulatory oversight, improving safety performance and promoting environmentally responsible mining practices.
The Mining Commission emphasized that such international benchmarking initiatives play a critical role in building institutional capacity, fostering knowledge exchange and supporting the country’s broader goal of developing a transparent, competitive and sustainable mining industry.
The visit is expected to contribute to improved policy implementation and operational standards, ultimately enhancing the sector’s contribution to national economic growth and community development.
