Dar es Salaam is advancing its vision of a modern and efficient public transport system as the city continues work on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
The Dar es Salaam City Roads Agency (DCRA), in partnership with Kunhwa Engineering & Construction, has announced that Lugalo Bridge will be temporarily closed on Sunday, January 25, 2026, to allow essential construction work.
The contractor, Mwendokasi Shandong Luqiao Group Co. Ltd., will carry out critical infrastructure upgrades designed to improve traffic flow, road safety, and public transport efficiency once the BRT Phase Four, Section Two (Lot 2) is completed.
Motorists and commuters using Bagamoyo Road and surrounding routes are advised to plan alternative routes and follow traffic management instructions to ensure safety during the closure.
City officials acknowledge that the temporary disruption may cause inconvenience, but stress that the improvements will deliver long-term benefits.
Residents can expect shorter travel times, safer roads, and a more reliable public transport system once the BRT network is fully operational.
The DCRA thanks the public for their patience and cooperation, urging everyone to support the ongoing efforts to create a faster, safer, and more modern transport system for Dar es Salaam.
