In a spirited show of community solidarity and environmental commitment, leaders and residents of Kilosa District joined hands to plant trees at Dinima Primary School in Masanze Ward on January 27, 2026, in celebration of the birthday of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
The tree-planting exercise was led by Kilosa District Commissioner, Shaka Hamdu Shaka, who guided participants from various community groups through the activity, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable development.
“This initiative is not only a way to honor our President but also a contribution to the environment, which benefits our communities now and for generations to come,” Commissioner Shaka said.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan, born on January 27, 1960, in Kizimkazi Village, South Unguja, Zanzibar, has inspired various community-led initiatives across the country that promote environmental stewardship and civic engagement.
For this year’s celebration, Kilosa District has set an ambitious target of planting 10,000 trees across its seven wards, reinforcing its commitment to green development and community-driven environmental projects.
The event reflects a growing national emphasis on ecological sustainability, with local governments and communities actively participating in programs that enhance Tanzania’s greenery, combat climate change, and promote public awareness of environmental issues.
