Kilombero Sugar extends relief to flood-affected families in Kilosa

By The Respondents Reporter

Kilombero Sugar Company has provided vital relief to families affected by recent floods in Kilosa District, Morogoro Region, where more than 202 households and a total of 1,411 residents have been impacted.

The floods disrupted daily life, destroying homes, crops, and household property, leaving many families in urgent need of basic support.

In response, Kilombero Sugar donated five tonnes of sugar worth over TZS 12 million to help ease the immediate food needs of affected households.

The relief support was received on January 6, 2026, by the Kilosa District Commissioner, Shaka Hamdu Shaka.

The donation was handed over by Victor Baberwa on behalf of the Board of Directors of Kilombero Sugar Company.

Local authorities said the assistance will directly benefit families struggling to recover from the disaster, especially vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and women.

The support is expected to complement ongoing government efforts to ensure affected residents regain stability and dignity.

The contribution highlights the importance of solidarity during times of crisis, demonstrating how partnerships between the private sector and government can bring timely relief to citizens affected by natural disasters.
