Kikwete confirms no changes to workstations for new public servants

By The Respondents Reporter

Minister of State in the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance, Ridhiwani Kikwete, has assured that there will be no changes to the assigned workstations for newly recruited public servants.

He emphasized that placements were determined based on the actual staffing needs of each council or employer.

Speaking to journalists yesterday, January 30, 2026, in Mtumba Government City, Dodoma, Kikwete highlighted that altering the assignments could disrupt the planned allocation, potentially affecting the smooth implementation of the recruitment process.

“Changing workstations would reduce the number of staff allocated to each council. To maintain proper distribution, no changes will be made,” he said, stressing the need to adhere to the placement plan.

Hon. Kikwete also warned new recruits to report to their assigned stations within 14 days of receiving appointment letters. Failure to comply will result in automatic loss of their positions.

“Vacant positions from non-compliance will be filled by other candidates on the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat’s waiting list,” he added.

The minister instructed employers to submit the appointment details of new recruits to the Chief Editor of the Government Gazette, who also serves as Secretary of the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance, for official publication.

Out of the 12,000 positions promised by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, 8,416 have already been assigned and reported to work. Some have started receiving salaries, in line with the President’s directive that recruits reporting before the end of January be directly integrated into the government payroll system.

Kikwete recalled that President Samia, during her October 29, 2025, election campaign, pledged to create 12,000 jobs in the education and health sectors within her first 100 days in office.

He explained that the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat coordinated applications, digital aptitude tests, and interviews nationwide, including Unguja and Pemba.

Appointment letters were sent directly to successful applicants’ accounts between January 11 and 20, 2026.

Currently, 8,416 new public servants have reported to councils, including 3,694 in education and 4,722 in health.

Among them, 735 have already been added to the payroll and received their January 2026 salaries, while the remaining staff are being integrated as they report to work.
