The Government of Tanzania, through the Ministry of Finance, has alerted the public to a series of fraudulent phone calls and messages targeting leaders and government employees.
The calls reportedly come from the numbers 0615 252 722 and 0766 116 687, with scammers falsely claiming to be the Minister of Finance and requesting money, often citing personal emergencies or health issues.
The Ministry of Finance clarified that these numbers are not linked to the Honorable Minister. Citizens and government employees are urged to ignore such calls and messages and refrain from sending money or sharing personal information.
Authorities confirmed that they are actively monitoring the situation and will take strict legal action against anyone involved in these scams.
The Government Communications Unit of the Ministry of Finance issued the warning to protect both citizens and public servants from fraudulent activities.
