The government, through the Ministry of Home Affairs, has reiterated its commitment to building strong relations with citizens, emphasizing this as a key pillar for maintaining peace and security.
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Denis Londo, said this during a meeting with Morogoro Regional Commissioner, Adam Malima, at his office.
Londo said security agencies will continue to protect citizens and their property while fostering trust between the government and the public.
“Citizens build relationships with the government during both challenges and celebrations. Security agencies are expected to strengthen this trust so that development initiatives proceed smoothly and citizens can see the benefits of the government’s efforts,” he said.
He highlighted ongoing improvements in key security institutions, including the Police, Prisons, Immigration, and Fire and Rescue Services.
“The leadership of Morogoro Region has been exemplary in promoting peace. The collaboration between the Ministry, security agencies, and citizens is a model for other regions and a driver of development,” Londo added.
The deputy minister assured citizens that officials are working closely to support President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s directives, ensuring security institutions operate efficiently and deliver results.
Regional Commissioner Adam Malima said Morogoro’s security agencies have become a benchmark in maintaining public safety.
He noted that given the region’s size, offices are now receiving improved resources, including vehicles, which had previously limited access to some areas.
“In general, security is well maintained, but some areas still require further resources, including Prisons buildings in Gairo, Malinyi, and Kilosa districts,” Malima said.
He also confirmed that the Fire and Rescue Services have received new vehicles, resolving past challenges with aging equipment.
Water collection points have been restored in critical areas for emergencies, and the Immigration Department has strengthened measures to curb illegal entries.
Malima said Morogoro’s success lies in ensuring citizens live in peace, which supports business activities and the development of a secure, conducive environment.
