Government has allocated TZS 675 million to expand and upgrade the Mailimoja Health Centre in Tabora Municipality, aiming to improve medical services for over 45,000 residents of Ipuli Ward.

The announcement was made by Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (TAMISEMI), Prof. Riziki Shemdoe, during a working visit to inspect ongoing construction at the facility.

“We have brought TZS 675 million, and construction is progressing well. The new OPD, IPD, Laundry, and X-ray buildings are already visible,” Prof. Shemdoe said.

He noted that works on the Incinerator and Placenta Pit buildings have not yet started. He directed the Regional Commissioner to ensure all contractors complete their projects as per agreements.

“The contractor responsible for these buildings must start work immediately. Any delays will lead to penalties,” he warned.

Prof. Shemdoe also praised the regional government for completing 99% of the 2.418-kilometre Mailimoja road, which connects residents to the health centre.

He said the upgraded road allows patients to reach the facility safely, even during heavy rains.

Speaking about services, In-Charge Doctor Josephat Mtambalike said the centre, operational since 2018, provides maternal and child health services, outpatient and inpatient care, TB and HIV clinics, dental care, emergency surgeries for complicated births, and laboratory services.

The construction and expansion project, which started on August 23, 2025, is expected to be completed by March 30, 2026, marking a major boost in health services for Tabora residents.
