A Chinese based company, Flowmovement Technology, has held discussions with Tanzania’s Ministry of Water on investing in the water sector, focusing on manufacturing of prepaid water meters to improve service delivery.
The talks were led by the Ministry’s Assistant Director for Operations and Maintenance, Engineer Mashaka Sitta, in Dodoma.
The company plans to manufacture prepaid water meters, establish a local factory, conduct water source research, reduce water losses, and enhance water distribution efficiency.
The Government welcomed the initiative, noting it aligns with current water sector needs and emphasized that the technology must suit Tanzania’s climate and water conditions.
Before implementation, the Government will set strategies to ensure affordable, environmentally friendly meters and fair water pricing, benefiting Tanzanians while improving revenue collection.
