The Bank of Tanzania (BoT) has walked away with two prestigious awards and a certificate of participation at the Financial Services Week Exhibition, which concluded on January 26, 2026, in Tanga City.

BoT earned the Financial Awareness Award and the Sponsorship Award after educating over 3,000 citizens on financial literacy and demonstrating outstanding support in organizing the week-long exhibition.

The event showcased key initiatives to improve public understanding of financial services and promote responsible borrowing practices.

At the closing ceremony, Ambassador Dr. Batlida Burian urged citizens, particularly women, to borrow only from financial institutions licensed by BoT. She warned against falling prey to high-interest loans offered by unregulated lenders.

“Women should avoid loans with harsh conditions when the government, through licensed institutions, provides safe and accessible borrowing opportunities. Always ensure you deal with recognized institutions licensed by the Bank of Tanzania,” she said.

BoT’s participation underlined its commitment to promoting responsible borrowing and financial inclusion, emphasizing that licensed institutions are central to protecting citizens’ financial security and supporting their economic well-being.
