The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, has urged staff of the Office of the Vice President – Union and Environment to perform their duties with professionalism, acknowledging the significant responsibility of managing environmental and union-related matters.
Speaking during a working session in Dodoma, the Vice President stressed that environmental conservation and management are crucial for the present and future generations.
He called for proper monitoring and evaluation of ministry initiatives, including tree planting programs, to ensure that environmental plans and objectives achieve tangible and lasting results.
Dr. Nchimbi highlighted the critical role of the Ministry in promoting awareness about the Union and ensuring that development achievements are anchored in its strength.
He emphasized the importance of educating young people born after the Union in 1964, to ensure the continuation of previous governments’ legacy and the advancement of a stronger nation.
The Vice President also stressed the Ministry’s responsibility in implementing environmental protection resolutions and plans adopted in international forums where Tanzania participates.
He urged staff to align their work with pledges made by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan during her election campaigns that relate directly to the Ministry’s mandate.
Dr. Nchimbi encouraged staff to study and apply the National Development Vision 2050 and the 2025–2030 Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Election Manifesto to guide their work and ensure effective implementation of key priorities.
He further called for professional development, dedication, and discipline, emphasizing the importance of setting a positive example in public service.
Earlier, the Vice President visited and inspected the construction of the new Office of the Vice President – Union and Environment building in Mtumba Government City, Dodoma. He commended the progress and urged contractors to complete the project by March 2026.
