The Tanzania Forest Services (TFS) Agency has been honored with the 2025 Best Forest Conservation and Biodiversity Protection Award, recognizing its outstanding and sustainable efforts in safeguarding the nation’s forests and biodiversity.
The award was presented on December 16 at a ceremony held at Mlimani City Conference Hall in Dar es Salaam.
Organized by the Tanzania Professional Skills and Innovation Awards (TPSIA) in collaboration with development partners and private sector stakeholders, the event celebrated public institutions making notable contributions to national development.
The accolade was officially handed over by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Labour and Investment of Zanzibar, Mr. Sharif A. Sharif.
Receiving the award on behalf of TFS Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner for Conservation and Director of Auxiliary Services Emmanuel Wilfred said the recognition highlights the agency’s continued commitment to managing forests and protecting biodiversity for the benefit of the country and future generations.
“We are grateful to TPSIA for acknowledging the work of TFS in forest conservation, biodiversity protection, and sustainable resource management. This award shows that our efforts are recognized and valued,” said Wilfred.
He added that the honor will further motivate TFS to strengthen initiatives against deforestation and illegal logging while enhancing community participation in conservation.
“This recognition inspires us to work even harder with professionalism and accountability, ensuring that Tanzania’s forests remain a key pillar for the economy, the environment, and citizens’ well-being,” he added.
TPSIA organizers noted that TFS was chosen for its measurable results in implementing forest conservation policies, improved protection of reserves, increased forest-related revenue, and significant contributions toward climate change mitigation.
