Tanzania gears up for Zurkhaneh World Cup in India

The Tanzanian national Zurkhaneh team is set to enter training camp tomorrow as it prepares for the World Championships, scheduled from December 20 to 26 in New Delhi, India.

Tanzania secured its place in the global competition after a strong performance at the African qualifiers, which featured teams from Benin, Kenya, and Uganda. 

The East African nation, alongside Uganda, earned the right to represent the continent on the world stage.

Abdallah Nyoni, Chairman of the Tanzanian Zurkhaneh Association, told The Respondents Online that the national team’s head coach, Seyedsajad Mousav from Iran, arrived in the country today to oversee preparations.

“All national team players are expected to arrive today and begin training immediately under Coach Mousav’s guidance,” Nyoni said. 

“Tomorrow, the team will officially kick off its training camp to get ready for the international tournament ahead of us.”he added

The squad will consist of eight players, including five from the combined national team and three from Khosti Palalarani.

The selected players are Athumani Kaniki, Ally Bakari, Hussein Hussein, Thomas Mwenda, Patrick Chacha, Mussa ShekiKagoma, and Abdulkadri Ally.
